Three members of the 2016 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class/Campbell Trophy finalists are among more than 300 prospects who have been invited to compete at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis Feb. 28-March 6.
Arkansas linebacker Brooks Ellis, East Carolina wide receiver Zay Jones and Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush will put their skills to the test in hopes of increasing their stock in the 2017 NFL Draft, which will take place April 27-29.
A First Team Academic All-American and the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Ellis finished his career with 290 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and four interceptions. Jones, a First Team All-American and Second Team Academic All-American, owns the FBS career and single-season records for receptions. An all-conference selection, Rush finished his career second in MAC history with 12,894 passing yards.
A number of Campbell Trophy semifinalists also earned invites to the Combine, including Wisconsin linebacker Vince Biegel, Memphis kicker Jake Elliott, West Virginia center Tyler Orlosky, Wyoming center Chase Roullier, NC State cornerback Jack Tocho, Kentucky center Jon Toth and Miami (Fla.) punter Justin Vogel.
