The National Football Foundation will present the 2014 William V. Campbell Trophy tonight to a very deserving student-athlete. The award is named for an equally deserving man in Bill Campbell.
Campbell has been able to use the lessons he learned on the gridiron to great effect in the business world. Here are four essential facts about him.
1. Campbell was a player and head coach at Columbia University.
2. At age 39 he switched careers and became an advertising executive, first working for JWT, the advertising company.
3. He eventually became Apple’s VP of Marketing and ran Apple’s Claris software division.
4. He served as CEO of Intuit from 1994-1998 and is currently Chairman of the Board. He also currently serves on Columbia University’s Board of Trustees.
